David Dorfmueller founded in 1884 a factory in Remscheid for tool production. Together with his sons he produced drills, gimlets and other tools for craftsmen. This fact is source for the company's name "David Dorfmueller Sons". In 1928 David Dorfmueller bequeathed the enterprise to his son Walter and his three other children. |

A family enterprise was the annex beside the residence, which was build up in 1895. This picture was made about 1914, house and factory are still existing nearly unchanged. But the production moved into a larger plant in 1967 and again in a new build factory located in an industrial area in Remscheid in 1986. |

Walter Dorfmueller took over the factory in 1928. Continuously DDS produced tools, mainly for woodworking and pipe pliers. Meanwhile the staff increased to ten employees and the building became too small. The original building was enlarged twice. |

Wolfgang Dorfmueller carried on with the family's tradition and started his apprenticeship in the paternal factory in 1950. In 1971 he inherited the enterprise and, under his leadership, the company specialised to the production of items with maximum precision. Today Wolfgang Dorfmueller leads the firm together with his son Klaus Dorfmueller and his son-in-law Michael Hake. |
